Gerard loves to teach children and adults alike on an individual basis. He makes sure the lessons are well assimilated and understood by using different methods like Bastien, Faber, Palmer, etc. He has worked successfully with kids as young as 3 years old. Gerard makes sure they can practice at home without the help of an adult.

He also wants his students to like the pieces they are learning. He gives them a choice by playing a few. He teaches all levels and has several years of experience and preferably uses the Royal Conservatory of Toronto curriculum.

He organizes regular piano recitals for his students

Gerard believes that at any level of playing the piano (or any other instrument), it should be done in a singing style. This does not mean taking up singing lessons, even though it might help. It just means the instrument should be played naturally and musically as if your were simply singing or humming.

In-home Piano Lessons Teaching Policy

10 post-dated cheques are due at the beginning of September to reserve a weekly lesson time (September to June). There will be a minimum of 40 lessons for the whole year (that includes July and August). There are no credits or refunds for cancellations. There will be only 3 make-ups a year in case of sickness. Please keep schedule change to a minimum to avoid disruption in my schedule. If I find it necessary to cancel a lesson, I will make up for it at a later date. A month's notice should be given to discontinue lessons. There will be no refunds during that final month but the remaining post-dated cheques will be returned. Please create a quiet and peaceful environment during the lesson and also when your child is practicing alone. Remember to be encouraging and positive. At times, traffic or bad weather may prevent me to reach your place on time, so allow about 10 minutes of grace time.
